Go Try It!

Now you need to leave the computer and try working with some solids on your own.  In the classroom you will find a bucket that holds 15 different solids.  Thinking about what you have read and thought about solids, explore with them and then sort them any way you wish.  Then try sorting them a second way.  After you are done, come back to the computer and read the next section on this page!

How Did You Do?

Did you try sorting the solids by color?  Did you try sorting them by shape?  Think about what you know about the solids.  You could sort items by hard and soft, by color, by shape, and other ways.

Next you will minimize this window by clicking the minus sign at the top of the Internet window.

Then get ready!  It's time to open orange key and start a new file.  Here are the steps you should follow:
  1. Start with a blank page and put your name on it.  Also write a title such as "All About Matter."
  2. Add a new blank slide.  Click on the mountain to add pictures of some solids that you can find.  Find 10 solids and put them all on your page.
  3. Now move the solids around and sort them into groups.  Click on the big letter A and add a word or two to label each group by how they are the same.
